Meta Mock Interview Practice for Software Engineers

Updated October 12, 2026 · By the Devana Team

A Meta mock interview on Devana is a voice interview with an AI interviewer on one of 61 Meta-style questions from Devana's bank: 26 coding, 13 system design, 12 technical deep dives and 10 behavioral. Your code runs, the interviewer asks follow-ups, and you get a score out of 100. Company question sets are on the Free plan. Devana is not affiliated with Meta, and these are not leaked or confirmed Meta questions.

What the Meta software engineer interview looks like

Meta does not publish its loop. Candidates commonly describe two 45-minute coding rounds, usually with two problems each and a plain shared editor, a 45-minute system design round and a 45-minute behavioral round. Interviewers are reported to write up what they saw, and the decision is made from those write-ups.

Meta rewrote its company values in 2022: Move Fast, Focus on Long-Term Impact, Build Awesome Things, Live in the Future, Be Direct and Respect Your Colleagues, and Meta, Metamates, Me. Older prep guides still list the earlier set, and behavioral stories land better when they show the current one.

The full guide, with the sources, is the Meta software engineer interview process.

What Devana practices for Meta

Devana's Meta set has 61 questions, 29 of them rated hard. The topics that come up most are Scalability, Hash Map, Systems Design and Databases. They are Devana's own questions, written to reflect what Meta and its candidates have said publicly about its interviews. Start any of these as a mock interview:

Counted from Devana's question bank. Technical deep dives run as a system design round. Devana is not affiliated with Meta.

How to practice for Meta

  • Pace two problems in 45 minutes. A single question on Devana runs up to 30 minutes on a paid plan and 20 on Free. Practice finishing one in about 20 minutes while talking, so the reported pace of the real round feels normal.
  • Expect social-graph problems. Our Meta coding questions include mutual friends between two users, degrees of separation between two people and selecting feed candidates while excluding seen posts.
  • Design for billions of users. The design questions are Meta's products: the News Feed, Instagram and WhatsApp messaging. Clarify the scale first and design for it from the start.
  • Know the front end if your role touches it. The technical deep dives include how React reconciliation works and a component that re-renders far too often.

How a Meta mock interview runs on Devana

Pick a question from the Meta set and you talk it through with Josh, Devana's AI interviewer, for up to 30 minutes on a paid plan or 20 on the Free plan. In a coding question your code runs in Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java or C++; a design question has a whiteboard the interviewer reads; a behavioral question gets follow-ups about what you personally did. Each session ends with a score out of 100 on that round's rubric and a list of what raised and lowered it. For a full-length round with two problems, start a standard mock interview from Practice instead: up to 60 minutes on a paid plan, though you cannot choose the company. The mock interviews by round page shows each round type.

Frequently asked questions

Are Devana's Meta questions real Meta interview questions?

No. Devana's 61 Meta questions are its own, written to reflect what Meta and its candidates have said publicly about its interviews. They are not leaked or confirmed Meta questions, and Devana is not affiliated with Meta.

Can I do a Meta mock interview for free?

Yes. Company question sets are on Devana's Free plan, which includes 3 mock interviews a month of up to 20 minutes each, on any of the 61 Meta questions. On the Sprint Pass or Pro, a single question runs up to 30 minutes.

How should I pace a Meta coding round?

Candidates widely report two problems in a 45-minute coding round, so practice finishing one in about 20 minutes while explaining as you go. Meta does not publish its loop, so treat that as reported rather than official.
